Ski resorts in the Alps

By admin | Feb 23, 2011

the Alps in Europe is home to literally hundreds of different ski resorts, and naturally it can be difficult to choose where to go if you have not been dozens of times before. A lot of people literally take pot luck and don’t mind where they go, but if you know the Alps fairly well then you begin to discover that there are huge differences between the different areas and the different resorts. For instance, you could decide on a particular skiing area, such as the Espace Killy in France, or the Three Valleys, and you would think that it doesn’t matter which resort you stay in in these areas, but it has to be said that each resort on these ski areas are totally different from one another. Val Thorens has a totally different feel to Courcheval or Meribel, despite being linked to both villages.

A lot also depends on the time of year you go as well. The later you go in the season, the higher up you need to be, and if you are going as late as March in the year then your best bet is to find a resort which will take you well above the 2000 metre mark, but it is Of course hard to know that without a wealth of knowledge.

The best thing to do is to go on the internet and find some advice there. There are some great sites which give you lots of information about ski holidays which will allow you to make the right choice in terms of where you should stay.
