Exploring around the northern territories

By admin | Jul 14, 2010

I have always been fascinated with Australia and last year I finally got the chance to go and explore. A lot of people I knew had headed down to Sydney to see the great city but that was not what excited me about Australia. I liked the way you could have a great city like Sydney or Darwin, but just a short journey away you could be in the outback, a totally different environment and culture.

I was dreaming about such a trip last year and I started to idly search the internet to find out about prices. I wasn’t expecting anything but when I looked for flights I found some really cheap flights to Darwin! I had not counted on this, but thinking about things I could probably afford to do this! Darwin was the perfect location for me too. The city itself turned out to be the most exciting place I had been to in the world. The food there was fantastic – a fusion of Australian and Asian ideas, and everywhere I ate had an amazing view of the ocean.

After a couple of days in Darwin I set off for the outback. I discovered the Katherine River, and following this was one Of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. I also fulfilled a life long ambition and climbed Ayres rock. I am yet to experience a better view than that and I don’t think I will until the day I die. Darwin is fantastic and so is the outback. I can’t wait to go back there!
